Artist Bio
Alma Washington
(Bio as of March 2005)
Alma Washington most recently appeared at the Goodman in The Story during the 2004/2005 Season. She performed the role of Emma at Theatre on the Lake in Steppenwolf’s Arts Exchange production of A Lesson Before Dying. Other Chicago credits include Berenice in The Member of the Wedding with Organic Theater Company, Sophie in Flyin’ West at Illinois Theater Center, and performances at Victory Gardens, Northlight, and Drury Lane Theatre. Regional credits include Elizabeth Keckley in The Last Days of Lincoln at Meadow Brook Theatre in Michigan and Elizabeth in The Old Settler at Milwaukee Chamber Theatre. She has appeared in feature films, television movies, and commercials. In conjunction with the Illinois Humanities Council and the Illinois Labor History Society, Ms. Washington portrays the labor leader Lucy Parsons throughout the city and state.
