Artist Bio
Adriana Sevan
(Bio as of August 2008)
Adriana Sevan most recently collaborated with the Goodman on the 2008 Latino Theatre Festival. She has created, developed and performed plays at the Sundance Institute Theatre Lab, South Coast Repertory, Mark Taper Forum, INTAR Theatre, The Lark Play Development Center and Dixon Place. Taking Flight had invaluable developmental support from directors Giovanna Sardelli and Tony Plana. The play was awarded a 2007 San Diego Theatre Critics Circle Award and was broadcast nationwide on the Public Radio series “The Play’s the Thing” with L.A. Theatre Works. The audio CD of this broadcast has been nominated for a 2008 Audie Award for Best Solo Narrative. Ms. Sevan’s acting credits include work at Yale Repertory Theatre, South Coast Repertory, Coconut Grove Playhouse, L.A. Theatre Works, The Public Theater, American Conservatory Theater, Classic Stage Company, Shakespeare and Company, Willow Cabin Theatre Company and HERE Arts Center. She has also guest-starred in several television shows, including Law & Order, Sex and the City, Deadline, Dellaventura and Law & Order: Criminal Intent. In 2005, she won the best actress award at The Denver International Film Festival for her portrayal of Priscilla in King’s County. Ms. Sevan was a founding member of Carol Gilligan and Kristin Linklater’s Company of Women and mentors at-risk adolescent girls living in group homes through her ongoing personal myth-making workshops. She is currently at work on her next play, Night Over Erzinga, about her Armenian ancestors.
