If you’ve ever been to Goodman Theatre’s production of A Christmas Carol, then you’ve likely encountered actors collecting donations in buckets after the show. These “Buckets of Love” belong to our longtime partner, Season of Concern, an organization that provides financial assistance to Chicago theater workers in need. This year, Goodman is once again proud to join the dozens of local theaters in supporting Season of Concern’s mission.
Who Are Season of Concern?
Season of Concern helps members of the theater industry (both union and non-union) who are unable to work due to illness, injury, and other circumstances. Their work spans over 25 citywide organizations directly assisting people living with HIV/AIDs and related illnesses. Since its inception in 1987, Season of Concern has expanded to support those battling other ailments, both physical and mental. More recently, the organization has brought focus to theater workers affected by Covid. Season of Concern also provides short-term emergency assistance for industry members facing financial issues that are non-health related.

How Can I Help?
Over the years, Goodman Theatre has raised over one million dollars in proceeds for Season of Concern, all thanks to the continual generosity of our patrons. We hope that this year’s show will leave you feeling inspired to contribute to this worthy organization, and all they do for our theater community.
After your performance of A Christmas Carol, look out for actors collecting donations with their “Buckets of Love”—come say hello and bring a little cheer by giving back!
You can also scan one of the many QR codes placed throughout the theater to donate virtually.
