James Schuette

James Schuette most recently designed scenery at the Goodman for Oedipus Complex in the 2006/2007 Season. Other Goodman design credits include scenery for Floyd Collins and costumes for Big Love. He has designed scenery or costumes for 17 productions at Steppenwolf Theatre Company, including The March, The Hot L Baltimore and The Brother/Sister Plays. Other recent work includes Cosi fan tutte, Alice in Wonderland and The Death of Klinghoffer at Opera Theatre of St Louis; Superior Donuts at the Music Box Theater; Good Goods at Yale Reper­tory Theatre and Carmen at Glimmerglass Opera. Additional work has been seen at American Rep­ertory Theater, American Conservatory Theater, Arena Stage, Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), Berkeley Repertory Theatre, Court Theatre, La Jolla Playhouse, the Mark Taper Forum, Manhattan Theatre Club, New York Theatre Workshop, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Seattle Repertory Theatre, Signature Theatre, Trinity Repertory Company, Boston Lyric Opera, Chicago Opera Theater, Houston Grand Opera, Seattle Opera, New York City Opera, The Santa Fe Opera and internationally. Upcoming work includes Head of Passes and Belleville at Steppenwolf Theatre Company, The Tro­jan Women at BAM Next Wave Festival and Dolores Claiborne at San Francisco Opera.
