What happens if I'm late to a show?

To cause the least amount of disruption to the performance and to other patrons, if you arrive late you'll be seated at the discretion of the house manager. You might not be seated in your assigned seats until intermission. Until you are seated, you may watch the performance on the monitor located in the lower lobby.

Are the theaters accessible to persons with disabilities?

Yes, both the Albert and the Owen theaters are fully accessible to persons with disabilities. If you require wheelchair-accessible seating, please contact the Box Office at 312.443.3800. For more information on accessibility, click here.

Do the theaters have listening devices?

Yes, both the Albert and the Owen theaters are equipped with infra-red listening assistive devices, which are available at the gift store in the Goodman lobby. Listening assistive devices are offered free of charge, but a driver's license is required as security.

When are post-show discussions?

Post-show discussions for subscription shows in the Albert Theatre are held after every Wednesday and Thursday performance.

May I bring my children to the theater?

The Goodman offers a wide range of programming, and the age-appropriateness varies. The Goodman's annual production of A Christmas Carol is appropriate for children aged 6 and up. In general, babes in arms are not permitted in the theaters.

Many of the Goodman's subscription shows are appropriate for teens. If you have questions about the age-appropriateness of any show, please call the Box Office at 312.443.3800.

What's your policy on cameras, beepers and cell phones in the theater?

Cameras are not permitted in the theater.

The ringing of a cell phone or beeper can be quite distracting for both the audience and the performers. If you bring a cell phone or beeper into the theater, please turn it off before the performance begins. If you must use your cell phone at intermission, please remember to turn it off before re-entering the theater.

Do all shows have an intermission?

Most shows at the Goodman have at least one 15-minute intermission. On rare occasions, however, a show may be performed without intermission. When entering the Albert or the Owen theaters, you will see an announcement on the theater door regarding the running time of the show and the number of intermissions. Intermission information is also listed on the title page of your theater program.

What is the dress code at the Goodman?

At a Goodman performance, you'll see all sorts of dress—from elegant cocktail attire to business casual to jeans. The rule of thumb is, wear what makes you feel most comfortable.
