  Special guest director Edward Torres

Thursday, April 18
Reception 5:30pm | Performance 7:30pm

Join us  for an evening of fun, food and networking with Chicago’s Latino professional leaders from the arts, business, education and government. Enjoy drinks and light hors d’oeuvres with director Edward Torres, as he shares insights into his work and process on the highly anticipated debut of The Happiest Song Plays Last.

From 2012 Pulitzer Prize winner (Water by the Spoonful) and Tony Award nominee (In the Heights) Quiara Alegría Hudes chronicles a year in the life of these two kindred souls as they search for love, meaning and a sense of hope in a quickly changing world. Set to the joyful sounds of traditional Puerto Rican folk music. At the dawn of the Arab Spring in an ancient Jordanian town, an Iraq War veteran struggles to overcome the traumas of combat by taking on an entirely new and unexpected career: an action film hero.
