Writing Workshop I Am the Darker Brother | Goodman Theatre

Writing Workshop I Am the Darker Brother

Sept 5 - Oct 1, 2017

I Am THE DARKER BROTHER: Demonization and the Demise of Civil Liberties

ALL WRITING WORKSHOPS TAKE PLACE AT ALPHAWOOD GALLERY, 2401 N. HALSTED STREET.

The internment of Americans during WWII meant many Japanese-Americans lost businesses, homes—everything that would not fit in a single suitcase—and after the war, faced continued racism. For additional chapters, communities, and designated “others,” the United States has failed to reach its ideals and we bear witness with any eye for change.

In collaboration with the exhibition, Goodman Theatre hosts a series of narrative writing and performance workshops to explore what “American” means and what responsibilities does freedom of speech engender?

The stories created in the workshops will be part of a curated performance at Alphawood Gallery for the They Came for Me Exhibit on Sunday, October 1 at 3 pm.
