School Matinee Series Partner Teachers are expected to attend at least 17 hours of professional development offered by Goodman Theatre. Teachers are required to attend content workshops for each show your school will be attending. New teachers to the program are required to attend a Dramatic Integration workshop (November 17th & April 5th/6th) to participate in the program.

Production Content Workshops
Required of any teacher bringing students to each production.
Thursday, October 25th, 2018, 5-7pm:
Lady in Denmark Content Workshop, 2 hours + Length of play
Teachers bringing students to Lady in Denmark are required to attend this workshop.
Saturday, November 17th, 2018, 10-11:30am
A Christmas Carol Content Workshop, 2 hours + Length of play (2hrs) = 4 hours

Classroom as Community
Open to all teachers, Classroom as Community is a three session, 15 hour pedagogy and praxis workshop. If you sign up for a section, you must attend all 3 sessions
Section 1: February 1-3 (15 hrs)

February 2, 10am – 4pm
February 3, 10am – 4pm
Section 2: April 5th – 7th (15 hrs)

Teaching August Wilson
This workshop, lead by Walter Director of Education & Engagement Willa J. Taylor, will examine how to teach one of America’s greatest playwrights as dramatic, literary and historical curriculum, looking at the scope of Wilson’s plays and how to reflect American history through the 20th century. This workshop will also include an introduction to coaching students who might be interested in competing in the August Wilson Monologue Competition.
