The Goodman will come alive with the glorious sounds of Gospel music when Regina Taylor’s Crowns takes the stage! A tribute to the unique cultural phenomenon that fuses faith with fashion, Crowns is a celebration of black women and their church hats. Adapted from the bets-selling book of the same title, Crowns combines oral history, Gospel music and a generous dose of “hattitude” to extol the hat as the symbol of the pride, beauty and endurance of black women everywhere. As the New York Times exclaimed at the play’s off-Broadway premiere, “Hats off to Crowns!”
