Victor Pichardo returns to the Goodman, where he was previously the music director for Esperanza Rising. He is the music director of the Chicago folk group Sones de México. He has been nominated for a 2007 Latin Grammy Award and a 2008 Grammy Award, and has performed at Symphony Center in Chicago, Carnegie Hall in New York, and The Kennedy Center in Washington, DC (in collaboration with the Chicago Sinfonietta), the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles and most major concert halls of the United States. His compositions were awarded the Walter A. Horban Award by the Symphony of Oak Park and River Forest; The Orquesta Típica de la Ciudad de México premiered his cantata Revolucionarios for chorus and orchestra in Mexico City in 2012. As a composer, Mr. Pichardo participates every year in the Latino Music Festival of Chicago. He has received three fellowships from the Illinois Arts Council and was granted the Revolucionario Award from the National Museum of Mexican Art. Mr. Pichardo was born in Mexico City.
