Business Council

The Goodman Business Council is comprised of civic-minded Chicago business leaders who are committed to having an impact in their community while expanding their networks and experiencing great live theater. Through production sponsorship education and engagement support, and in-kind contributions, and engagement support, Business Council members help the Goodman tell stories that reflect diverse Chicago communities. 



The Business Council is a dynamic business network in Chicago that offers behind-the-scenes views of the Goodman, terrific theater experiences for corporate entertainment and personal enjoyment and opportunities to make and deepen professional connections.

Business Council members make a commitment to:

  • Be involved as an advocate and audience member
  • Make a cash and/or in-kind contribution of $10,000-$15,000
  • Introduce individuals from the broader business community to the Goodman
  • Attend Business Council  and other events, or invite another representative of your company

Members are actively engaged with the Goodman as their time allows and in turn experience the benefits of being associated with one of Chicago's premier cultural institution.


The Goodman offers Business Council members and companies the opportunity to reach a variety of desirable audiences, cultivate clients, reward employees and demonstrate civic support in Chicago.

A not-for-profit arts and community organization, the Goodman serves the Chicago community with new work by innovative writers, classic revivals, large-scale musicals and community programming. The Goodman is an anchor of the North Loop Theater District, drawing in more than 250,00 visitors each year and having an annual economic impact of nearly $30 million.

Goodman Theatre has held an institutional pillar of diversity and equity for more than thirty years, a commitment that informs everything from the selection of plays on stage which elevates a wide variety of viewpoints, to behind-the-scenes efforts focused on talent development, civic partnerships, and service to the community.

Goodman Education and Engagement programs serve learners aged 9 to 99, helping them to trust in the power of their voice and work towards a better community for all. Each year, more than 3,000 participants enroll in programs that teach storytelling skills, improve the quality of our schools, and foster community, completely free of charge.
