(Policies as of June 9, 2021)
In light of continuing vaccination progress, Mayor Lori Lightfoot has announced that beginning June 11, 2021, Chicago will move to Phase V protocols and lift most restrictions previously put in place for COVID-19.
While we know that most our patrons may be protected from COVID-19, the comfort and well-being of our guests, artists, and theater workers remains a priority at Goodman Theatre. To ensure this, Goodman Theatre will implement the following protocols during the run of School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Play. Protocols for subsequent productions will be developed and implemented in accordance with prevailing public health guidance at such future time.
All policies, including ticketing and attendance, are subject to change based on evolving guidance from the City of Chicago, the State of Illinois and the CDC. As this guidance is rapidly evolving, so may these protocols. We encourage you to confirm current protocols prior to your performance. Full refunds will be made available to any parties wishing to cancel their tickets for any reason.
Goodman Theatre has completely overhauled our air ventilation systems in 2021, implementing a design and build with current best-practices during the COVID era. We have increased our fresh air exchange capabilities while utilizing recommended MERV 13 filters and bipolar ionizers to exceed current recommended levels of air quality and purification.
Regardless of vaccine status, patrons will be required to wear face coverings at all times and in all areas of Goodman Theatre, including while seated during the performance. Patrons arriving without appropriate face coverings will be provided a disposable face mask.
Under Phase V, all capacity restrictions and distancing requirements will be lifted. In order to create a comfortable experience for our patrons, Goodman will maintain some measure of distance in the theatre by keeping at least one seat empty on either side of each party.
Sanitization and Surfaces
In addition to enhanced cleaning procedures between every performance, restrooms and other facilities have been converted to touchless systems. Hand sanitizer stations will be available throughout Goodman Theatre.
All patrons understand that there is a risk of exposure to COVID-19 in any public place where people are present. Those purchasing tickets and attending Goodman Theatre productions voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19.
Tickets will be delivered electronically by email. You will self-scan your ticket at a stand upon entering inside the theater. Ushers will be stationed at all doors for assistance.
Patrons who are not feeling well, are exhibiting any COVID-19 symptoms or have had or been exposed to COVID-19 in the past 14 days, should not come to Goodman Theatre. If you are unable to attend a performance, you are encouraged to contact us to discuss flexible exchange and refund options.
