In the new comedy Ask Aunt Susan, Alex Stage takes on the moniker of Aunt Susan, an online advice provider whose identity remains an enigma to her many devoted followers. No need for all the mystery with Alex himself though as he gladly answered a few "backstage" questions about his own identiy and past. See his answers below!

Alex Stage (Aunt Susan) in Ask Aunt Susan.

Place of birth and/or hometown?

I was born in Naperville, but moved to Georgia when I was 7 and grew up there.

First professional role/production you were in?

I was an apprentice at Actors Theatre of Louisville and played several different characters in a Humana Festival play called The End. It was, in fact, about the apocalypse.

Favorite professional role/production you were in?

Before this, Mani in hamlet is dead. no gravity at Red Tape Theatre. Ask Aunt Susan playwright Seth Bockley directed the show and it was a crazy/fun/crazy!

Dream role or production you hope to be in in the future?

Konstantin in The Seagull. I love that play and would be happy to be any part in it, but since it's dream role scenario, I have to say Konstantin.

Role you know you’ll never get to play because of your age/sex/race but would love to play in an alternate universe, and why?

I would love to play King Lear. That's cheating, I know. I can play him later in life but right now and for the near future it would only be in an alternate universe. So that's my answer!

Production or role you've experienced as an audience member that left you speechless?

I was a freshman in college and my school theater department took a trip up here to Chicago. We all saw The Pillowman at Steppenwolf and it was the most amazing thing I have ever seen. Jim True-Frost, Michael Shannon and Tracy Letts were in it and participated in the talkback after the show. It was my favorite experience in the theater and probably had a lot to do with why I chose to come to Chicago after school.
