In this FREE virtual program, participants aged 14 to 18 develop a three-to-five-minute site-specific solo performance pieces. Guided by a team of Chicago teaching artists, participants learn playwriting, movement and dance, acting and vocal performance and receive coaching from directors and designers to lift the pieces from the page to the virtual stage.


Program Dates

The summer 2021 session of Alone Together begins Monday, June 28 and runs for six weeks with culminating performances on the evenings of Friday, August 6 and Saturday, August 7.

Participants in Alone Together meet Monday through Friday for four hours a each day. All gatherings will take place between 9am and 6pm. Exact times will be determined based on applicant interest and availability.

All meetings take place over Zoom.


How to Apply

To apply to the summer 2021 session of Alone Together, fill out the application form at the link below. In addition to providing some basic information, applicants will be asked to answer the following questions in either a written statement no more than 300 words or a video no longer than 90 seconds:

  • Why are you interested in this program? 
  • What social justice issues do you care about (list three) and why? 
  • Do you have any experience with activism/volunteering? 

The deadline to apply is 11:59pm on Wednesday, May 26. Applications submitted after May 26 will not be considered.
