David C. Woolard most recently collaborated with the Goodman on Floyd and Clea Under the Western Sky during the 2004/2005 Season. Broadway credits include All Shook Up, The Smell of the Kill, Bells Are Ringing, The Rocky Horror Show (Tony Award nomination), Voices in the Dark, Marlene, The Who’s Tommy (Tony and Olivier Award nominations), Wait Until Dark with Quentin Tarantino and Marisa Tomei, Horton Foote’s Pulitzer Prize-winning The Young Man from Atlanta, Damn Yankees and A Few Good Men. Off-Broadway credits include The Stendhal Syndrome and Dream a Little Dream at Primary Stages; Barbra’s Wedding and Frankie and Johnny in the Claire de Lune at Westside Arts Theatre; NewYorkers, The Red Address and David Ives’ Polish Joke at Manhattan Theatre Club; The Carpetbagger’s Children at Lincoln Center; The Donkey Show at Club El Flamingo; Nicky Silver’s The Eros Trilogy, Mrs. Klein (with Uta Hagen) and Bunny Bunny at the Lucille Lortel Theatre; Paul Rudnick’s The Naked Truth at WPA; Jeffrey at Minetta Lane Theatre; Breaking Legs at the Promenade; Godspell at the Lamb’s Theatre, and the Encores! production of The Pajama Game at City Center, as well as designs at the Shakespeare Festival/Public Theater, Manhattan Theatre Club and Playwrights Horizons, among others. He has designed for numerous regional theaters and tours, as well as various opera companies. Recent work includes Poppea at Chicago Opera Theater, Madame Butterfly in Minneapolis and Madame Mao at Santa Fe Opera. With his partner Gary Field, he started Career Gear, a non-profit organization that provides career counseling, interview clothing and follow-up support to low-income men seeking employment.
