Christopher Akerlind most recently collaborated with the Goodman on Rock 'n' Roll during the 2008/2009 Season. He designed the Goodman productions of Shining City, Electricidad, The Light in the Piazza (Jeff Award), The Skin of Our Teeth, The Piano Lesson, Seven Guitars and Randy Newman’s Faust. Other Chicago credits include Die Entfuhrung aus dem Serail at Lyric Opera of Chicago; Superior Donuts, The Pillowman and Homebody/Kabul at Steppenwolf Theatre Company; Antony and Cleopatra, Measure for Measure and Othello at Chicago Shakespeare Theater; and Twelfth Night and The Piano (directed by Charles Newell) at Court Theatre. His Broadway credits include Top Girls, 110 in the Shade (Tony Award nomination), Talk Radio (directed by Robert Falls), Shining City, Awake and Sing (Tony Award nomination), Well, Rabbit Hole, The Light in the Piazza (Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle Awards), Reckless, The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife, Seven Guitars (Tony Award nomination) and The Piano Lesson. He has received an Obie Award for Sustained Excellence in Lighting Design, the Michael Merritt Award for Design and Collaboration and numerous nominations for Drama Desk, Lucille Lortel, Outer Critics Circle and Tony Awards.
