McKenzie Chinn

McKenzie Chinn (Alma) is an award-winning actor, filmmaker and poet based in Chicago. She is the writer, producer and lead actor of Olympia, which premiered at the 2018 LA Film Festival and won multiple awards at festivals across the country, as well as the inaugural recipient of the NCBUniversal Grant from the Bentonville Film Foundation. Her next feature, A Real One, is one of eight projects supported by the 2021 Sundance Directors Lab. McKenzie plays “Jessica” of Fox’s The Big Leap, and has appeared on Fox's Empire; CBS’s The Red Line and other television and independent film. On stage she has worked with the Goodman, Steppenwolf Theatre, The Second City, Woolly Mammoth, The Studio Theatre, among many others. An accomplished poet, her work has appeared in numerous publications and has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize. She is a member of the acclaimed Growing Concerns Poetry Collective, which released its second studio album, BIG DARK BRIGHT FUTURES in 2020, and published its first book of poems Five Fifths through Candor Arts in 2018.  She holds an MFA from The Theatre School at DePaul.
