Chic Street Man

Chic Street Man previously appeared in Pullman Porter Blues at Seattle Repertory Theater and Arena Stage. Other theatrical credits include Spunk at the New York Shakespeare Festival, Crossroads Theatre Company and the Mark Taper Forum (composer/guitar man); Ruined at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival; It Ain’t Nothin’ But the Blues at Denver Center Theatre Company, Arena Stage and Cleveland Play House (performer/arranger); Polk County at McCarter Theatre (musical director/composer); Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom at Seattle Repertory Theater; Hank Williams: Lost Highway at the Mark Taper Forum; Native Son at Intiman Theatre in Seattle (composer/performer); The Caucasian Chalk Circle at Berkeley Repertory Theatre; Touch the Names at Cleveland Play House (performer/composer) and A Lesson Before Dying at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival (composer/arranger). He was the composer for Permutations, which appeared on the PBS Great Performances series celebrating George C. Wolfe. He has appeared on film in Triple Bogey on a Par Five Hole and Hangin’ with the Homeboys. Awards include a 1990 Audelco Award; a 1992 NAACP Theatre Arts Award for Spunk and a San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Critic’s Circle Award for musical direction ofPolk County. He has appeared at the Paleo, Montreux and Bern Jazz festivals, and taught at the Heifetz International Music Institute and the Seattle Conservatory of Music.
