Moderated by Anne García-Romero
Goodman Theatre Artist Encounters bring together audiences and the artists who create the work on our stages in an intimate environment, for a behind-the-scenes look at the plays and the playmaking process. Join us for an in-depth conversation with The Happiest Song Plays Last playwright Quiara Alegría Hudes and director Edward Torres. The Happiest Song Plays Last is the final chapter in Ms. Hudes’ trilogy of plays about an Iraq War veteran; this reading will be followed by a book signing of Elliot, A Soldier’s Fugue and Water by the Spoonful, the first two plays in the trilogy.
Set to the joyful sounds of traditional Puerto Rican folk music, this poignant new play from 2012 Pulitzer Prize winner (Water by the Spoonful) and Tony Award nominee (In the Heights) Quiara Alegría Hudes chronicles a year in the life of these two kindred souls as they search for love, meaning and a sense of hope in a quickly changing world.
