The Goodman Theatre Gala on May 17 was a great success, raising $1 million for Goodman Theatre’s Education and Community Engagement Programs. Guests attending the fabulous event were treated to a performance by Emmy and Tony-award winner Kristin Chenoweth followed by dinner and dancing to the Gentlemen of Leisure at the Hilton Chicago. ABOUT KRISTIN CHENOWETH
Kristin Chenoweth is an accomplished singer and an Emmy and Tony Award-winning actress for stage, television and film. She received an Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in the ABC series Pushing Daisies, and has also appeared in Fox’s comedy Glee (Emmy and People’s Choice Award nominee). She was nominated for a Tony Award for her performance as Glinda the Good Witch in Wicked on Broadway and subsequently appeared on Broadway as Fran Kubelik in the revival of Promises, Promises starring alongside Sean Hayes. During the 1998/1999 season, she created the role of Sally in the first Broadway production of You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, for which she won Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for Best Featured Actress in a Musical. Film and television credits include RV, Four Christmases, You Again, Deck the Halls, Bewitched, Running with Scissors, The Pink Panther and NBC’s The West Wing. In 2009, Chenoweth authored A Little Bit Wicked, which was featured on The New York Times Hardcover Non-Fiction Best Seller List. Chenoweth can currently be seen in the animated film Rio 2. Earlier this year, she wrapped production on the Universal film The Boy Next Door alongside Jennifer Lopez and is set to star in the Disney Channel’s live-action original movie The Descendents, in which she will play the classic Sleeping Beauty villain Maleficent. She appeared in the 100th episode of Glee in March and returned to the famed Carnegie Hall for the first time since her sold-out solo debut in 2004 earlier this month.
