A FREE seven-week theater intensive for students at the Goodman
Open to all 14- to 18-year-old students in the Chicago metropolitan area, PlayBuild Youth Intensive (formerly General Theater Studies) gives students the opportunity to learn skills from local theater professionals that are instantly applicable not only to the world of theater, but also in the world at large.
This summer program is designed to validate the voices of its participants, get them to examine their own potential for creativity and introduce them to all elements of the creation of theater, both on stage and behind the scenes by using personal history and storytelling techniques.

Aged Out of PlayBuild?
The Playbuild Teaching Internship gives former PlayBuild students the opportunity to see the process from the other side of the table. PlayBuild teaching interns will work hand in hand with the PlayBuild Teaching Artists (theatre professionals from across the nation), as well as the Education staff at the Goodman, to develop and implement seven weeks of programming for 80 Chicago area high school students.
Day to day responsibilities for PlayBuild Teaching Interns include both administrative tasks and teaching activities. Note taking, tracking student attendance, leading exercises, maintaining student records, communicating with guardians, and tracking script changes are all intern duties. Candidates for a PlayBuild Teaching Internship must have participated in at least one of Goodman Theatre’s education programs. To apply, please complete and submit the PlayBuild Teaching Internship Application by June 9th, 2017.
