Rapture, Blister, Burn CONTEXT
The Third Wave: Women, Men and Feminism

Tuesday, 2.17.2015 | 6-8pm at Geek Bar Beta (1941 West North Avenue, Chicago, IL 60622)

The concept of feminism has evolved and changed with each decade. Now, as we experience cultural shifts brought on by technology, globalization, and practices of resistance around the world, how do we use a “Third Wave” feminist lens to critique our world and the choices we make? Join us for an evening of intimate, small-group discussions on feminism inspired by Gina Gionfriddo’s Rapture, Blister, Burn.

Small group discussions topics include
The Male Gaze Through an LGBTQ Lens
Can Women Have it all?
Biases within Feminism
Women and Sex in Comedy
Slut Shaming
Women in Technology, Gaming, and Geekdom
#feminism (an inclusive space to discuss any and all feminist topics)

Suggested Materials

In preparation for our conversations, Goodman Education will compile suggested materials. These articles, podcasts, and videos highlight a myriad of relevant feminist opinions and theories, and will include suggestions from Goodman staff and discussion facilitators alike. After you RSVP, the Education staff will provide you with links to material by email.
