Nikkole Salter most recently collaborated with the Goodman on In the Continuum during the 2006/2007 Season. Recent credits include the international tour of In The Continuum, including Primary Stages; Perry Street Theatre; Harare International Festival of the Arts, Zimbabwe; Baxter Theatre Centre, Cape Town; Market Theatre, Johannesburg; Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh Theater Company; Woolly Mammoth Theatre, Washington D.C.; and the Kirk Douglas Theatre, Los Angeles. New York credits include King Hedley II, We Won’t Pay, Gum and Three Sisters (New York University); The Overwhelming (Rattlestick Theater workshop with director Lucie Tiberghien); Prime Time (Lincoln Center workshop with director Liesl Tommy); The Story (Kesselring Project at the Player’s Club); and Stop Kiss (Studio Tisch). Regional theater credits include Jitney (Studio Theatre, Washington, D.C.). Film and television credits include Pride and Glory starring Edward Norton and Colin Farrell, The Architect starring Isabella Rossellini and Viola Davis, Whispers (2002 HBO Short Film finalist, 2002 IFP Gordon Parks Award and 2003 Sundance Film Festival Official Selection), CBS’s The Unit and Moesha. Fellowships and awards include the Global Tolerance Award from the Friends of the United Nations in 2004; the Drama League Award for Distinguished Performance in 2005; Marian Seldes-Garson Kanin Fellowship including an honor by the Theater Hall of Fame in 2006; Outer Critics John Gassner Award in 2006 a Village Voice Obie Award and a Helen Hayes Award for outstanding non-resident production in 2006. Ms. Salter is a graduate of Howard University’s College of Fine Arts and New York University’s Graduate Acting Program. Ms. Salter continues her pursuits as an actress and writer and is currently working on her new project, Repairing the Nation: a play that, among other things, grapples with the concept of reparations in America. “Thanks to my family, friends, teachers and mentors for investing so much in my development and to God who makes all things possible.”
