Joseph Appelt

Joseph Appelt most recently collaborated with the Goodman on The Sins of Sor Juana during the 2009/2010 Season. Other design credits at the Goodman include Boleros for the Disenchanted and Transformations. His other Chicago credits include Fake at Steppenwolf Theatre Company, Old Times at Court Theatre, Rum and Coke at Pegasus Players, No One As Nasty at Victory Gardens Theater, Catfeet at Northlight Theatre and The Glass Experience, an extensive exhibit on the history, industrial application and artistic use of glass at the Museum of Science and Industry in 2008. His regional theater credits include numerous productions at Milwaukee Repertory Theater, as well as productions at Yale Repertory Theatre, The Studio Theatre in Washington, D.C., The Cleveland Play House, Syracuse Stage and American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. He has also designed lighting for productions performed at the Spoleto Festival USA and in Tokyo, Japan. He has served as Resident Lighting Designer for Missouri Repertory Theatre (now The Kansas City Repertory Theatre) and the Kansas City Ballet. Mr. Appelt teaches at Northwestern University where he is Director of the MFA Stage Design Program.
