Robert Schleifer most recently appeared in his seventh Goodman production of A Christmas Carol during the 2003/2004 Season. Mr. Schleifer appeared as Hamlet in Hamlet Dreams at Bailiwick Repertory. Other credits include Stinger in Stage Left Theatre's Police Deaf Near and Far, directed by Drew Martin and written by David Rush (Jeff Citation for new work), for which Mr. Schleifer received an After Dark Award for outstanding perform­ance and outstanding ensemble. At Bailiwick Repertory, where he is an artistic associate, he appeared as Dr. Dysart in Peter Schaffer's Equus (After Dark Award for outstanding per­formance), as Holy Ghost in the Jeff Award-winning musical Pope Joan directed by David Zak, Broken Spokes and Our Town. Other Chicago credits include Next Theatre's Cardenio directed by Kate Buckley; Footsteps Theatre's Antigone and Salome; Chicago Dramatists Workshop's The Firebird; Strawdog Theatre's English Made Simple; and Centerlight Theatre's The Fantasticks and The Odd Couple, both of which he directed. Other directing credits include Barefoot in the Park at Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center; The Whole World in Our Hands and Act Without Words at Bailiwick Repertory. He has also worked with Around the Coyote Arts Festival, Naked Eye and Art Attack in Michigan. He will be seen in the upcoming production of The Tempest at Milwaukee Shakespeare Theatre. Film credits include Miracle on 34th Street and The Gap. Deaf since birth, Mr. Schleifer is a sign language teacher at both the Chicago Hearing Society and Francis Parker School.
