Creating Opportunities

The Goodman not only produces some of the finest work seen on stage, but we provide opportunities for people who might not otherwise experience theater and for those who want to make theater their life's work. Below are some of the programs we provide that open minds and change lives. Your support makes these programs possible.

Education

More

The Goodman Theatre's education and community programs are a model of excellence in arts integration for the City of Chicago and the national theatrical community. Providing year-round programs for learners of all ages, we celebrate the illuminating power of theater and are committed to being an active and innovative partner for schools, audience members, Chicago-area cultural institutions and our community at large.

Michael Maggio Fellowship

More

In celebration of Michael's dedication to the nurturing of young artists, the Goodman has established the Michael Maggio Directing Fellowship Fund, an endowment fund that will allow a stipend to be paid each year to a promising early-career director, who will assist one of the theater's resident directors on a Goodman production.

New Work Development

More

New plays and emerging artists have played a crucial role in establishing the Goodman's artistic direction and vitality over the years. The Goodman is broadening its artistic development efforts into a sustainable and self-perpetuating program. The Goodman's New Work Development program strengthens the American theater and supports artists in the development of new works for the stage through an annual program of commissions, pre-production workshops, and extended rehearsals.
