GOODMAN THEATRE DARKENS ITS DEARBORN STREET MARQUEE FOR MARCH 29 EARTH HOUR
******Goodman joins city-wide event to raise awareness in the fight against global warming***

(Chicago, IL February 22, 2008) As the lights go up in The Trip to Bountiful inside the Goodman on March 20, the lights of the theater's marquee outside, along with all the lights in Chicago's magnificent skyline, will be extinguished for sixty minutes in celebration of Earth Hour. The 8pm performance of The Trip to Bountiful will go on as scheduled.

This dramatic demonstration is an initiative of the World Wildlife Federation. Working in partnership with Chicago organizations, Earth Hour demonstrates how simple acts such as turning off the lights can have a massive impact in the fight against global warming. The Goodman joins the Ferris Wheel at Navy Pier, the historic sign at Wrigley Field, the Hancock Building, the Sears Tower, the United Center, all McDonald's Arches, as well as other buildings and businesses throughout the city in this historic demonstration.

After a successful event held in Sydney in 2007, Earth Hour will be celebrated globally with participation in Brisbane, Copenhagen, Manila, Dublin, Bangkok and Tel Aviv with Chicago acting as the flagship city for the United States. From 8-9pm residents and businesses are encouraged to simply turn off the lights or find other creative ways to conserve energy.
