(January 14, 2008 - Chicago, IL) Explore the contemporary Irish culture that is the backdrop of Conor McPherson's Shining City-during lunch. Goodman Theatre presents Rob Bochnik, guitarist and vocalist of The Frames-one of Ireland's leading rock bands-performing songs from his first solo record, "Blowing Out the Cobwebs," in the theater's Playtime lunch series. Traditional Irish fare of mini corned beef sandwiches and bangers, provided by Emerald Loop Bar and Grill, complements the event. Lead guitarist and vocalist Rob Bochnik has been a member of the Irish rock band The Frames since 2002, collaborating on four albums. In addition, he recently released his first official solo album, "Blowing Out the Cobwebs," and has served as recording engineer for the soundtrack to the hit independent film Once. The Frames have toured the United States, Europe and Australia and have performed with prominent musicians including Bob Dylan and Damian Rice. In Chicago, they have performed at The Metro, The Hideout and The Beat Kitchen. Bochnik divides his time between Ireland and Chicago.
A light-hearted lunchtime series, Playtime events features lively speakers, entertainment, demonstrations and cuisine that are thematically linked to Goodman Theatre productions. Each event is hosted during lunch hour at the Goodman; participants are encouraged to bring their own lunches, in addition to enjoying the treats provided.
