Latino Theatre Festival Play Competition
In conjunction with its Latino Theatre Festival, Goodman Theatre is pleased to announce a new 10-minute play competition for playwrights ages 12-23. Two plays from each age group (12-15, 16-19 and 20-23) will be selected for a reading by a company of professional actors to be performed on the Goodman's Albert Theatre!
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Plays may be written in English or Spanish.
- Plays must address the topic "Culture Clash in America," exploring what it's like to be both a Latino(a) and an American, and answering such questions as: How do these identities combine or collide in your life and those of others? How do they define who we are as individuals and as a society?
- All submissions must be 10 minutes or less - which equals 10 typed double-spaced pages or less - and should not require more than 5 actors total (though actors can play more than one role).
- Play submissions must be typed and include name, contact info, age category (12-15, 16-19 or 20-23) and any relevant production history if the play has been performed before.
- One submission is allowed per person.
The deadline for submissions is July 15, 2008!
Scripts can by dropped off at the Goodman Theatre or emailed to DanCox@goodmantheatre.org. Playwrights should include "10-minute plays (LTF)" in the subject line of their emails or on their envelopes.
Playwrights of the selected works will be notified by August 7. The plays selected for the final reading will be announced to the public at the Latino Theatre Festival opening event on August 8, 2008. The professional reading will be open to the public on August 18, 2008, in Goodman's Albert Theatre.
