Doanld Margulies received the 2000 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for Dinner with Friends, Variety Arts Theatre (New York), Comedic des Champs-Elysées (Paris), Actors Theatre of Louisville, South Coast Reper­tory, (American Theatre Critics Association New Play Award, Dramatists Guild/Hull-Warriner Award, Lucille Lortel Award, Outer Critics Circle Award, Drama Desk nominee). His adaptation of Sholem Asch’s Yiddish classic, God of Vengeance, had its world premiere at A Contemporary Theatre in Seattle in 2000, and was presented at the Williamstown Theatre Festival in 2002. His latest play, Brooklyn Boy, will premiere in the 2003-04 season at South Coast Repertory, which com­missioned it. His plays have been performed at major the­aters across the United States and around the world. Theatre Communications Group has published four volumes of his work, Dinner with Friends, Collected Stories, Luna Park: Short Plays and Monologues, Sight Unseen and Other Plays. Mr. Margulies has received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, The New York Foun­dation for the Arts, and the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation. He was the recipient of the 2000 Sidney Kingsley Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Theatre. Mr. Margulies is an alumnus of New Drama­tists and serves on the council of The Dramatists Guild of America. His adaptation of Dinner with Friends was pro­duced by HBO and Collected Stories was presented on PBS Hollywood Presents. He has developed screenplays for NBC, Paramount Pictures, Propaganda, Touchstone Pictures, Warner Bros., TriStar and Universal. Born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1954, Mr. Margulies currently lives with his wife, Lynn Street, a physician, and son, Miles, in New Haven, Connecticut, where he teaches play­writing at Yale University.
