Michael Chybowski

Michael Chybowski most recently collaborated with the Goodman on Oedipus Complex during the 2006/2007 Season. His other recent Chicago credits include Hedda Gabbler and Playboy of the Western World at Steppenwolf and Orfeo for the Chicago Opera Theatre. Broadway credits include last season’s The Lieutenant of Inishmore at the Lyceum and Laurie Anderson’s Stories from the Nerve Bible. Additional New York work includes Much Ado About Nothing, Twelfth Night, Cymbeline and Henry VIII at the Delacorte in Central Park; Emergen-see at The Public Theater; and McReele at the Roundabout’s Laura Pels Theatre. Michael’s work has been seen at most major regional theaters in the United States, and his lighting for dance with choreographer Mark Morris and the Mark Morris Dance Group has been seen at the Royal Ballet, New Zealand Ballet and English National Ballet, among others. Film credits include the Mark Morris/Yo-Yo Ma filming of Bach’s 3rd Cello Suite Falling Down Stairs and Dido and Aeneas. Michael is the recipient of the American Theatre Wing Design Award, an Obie Award for Sustained Excellence, and two Lucille Lortel Awards for his work off-Broadway and is the Head of Lighting at Brandeis University.
