E-Communications Manager

Summary:
The E-Communications Manager is responsible for all aspects related to the management of the Goodman's website and e-marketing efforts. This includes website management and updating, e-marketing efforts, data management, tracking and reporting, executing special offers and promotions and tracking promotion effectiveness.

Responsibilities:

  • Website: Oversees the development, maintenance and updating of the existing website. Works on day-to-day and special projects. Primary liaison with website technology supplier.
  • E-Marketing: Plans, develops and executes electronic marketing efforts ensuring the integration of print, web and electronic media. Assists with e-marketing partnerships.
  • Data Management: Responsible for maintaining institutional Tessitura database standards and training new staff members for marketing department.
  • Reports/research: Generate weekly reports from Google Analytics documenting and analyzing e-mail and website usage, revenue impact and user preferences.
  • Research: Coordinates audience research efforts.
  • Special Offers and Promotions: Executes and coordinates promotional ticketing opportunities.
  • Interns: Works with publicity associate as co-mentor to interview, hire, train and manage departmental interns.
  • Other duties as required by Director of Marketing and Public Relations, including assistance with after-work-hour events.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in marketing/communications, arts management or technology-related field.
  • Experience: 3-5 years experience in the area of website technology, marketing and e-communications. Tessitura experience is required. Proficiency with HTML is strongly preferred.
  • Required skills: must be highly organized, technologically savvy, a self-starter and team player. Must have excellent writing, communications and interpersonal skills. Performing arts experience a plus. Must be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Assistant Producer

Reports To: Associate Producer, Artistic Director

Caniadate Qualifications:

  • BA or BFA degree in Theatre, Arts Administration or related field
  • Significant experience in theatre producing and management, preferably in the nonprofit theatre
  • Exemplary interpersonal and communications skills
  • Strong organization, social and management skills
  • Detail oriented and multitasking abilities
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Serve as day-to-day contact and artistic department liaison with Goodman departments, Goodman artistic associates, and outside artists and organizations
  • With the Associate Producer and in conjunction with other artistic staff, oversee the hiring process for all artistic personnel, including directors, actors, and ancillary artistic personnel
  • Work with the Assistant General Manager in the contracting of all artistic personnel
  • Assist the General Manager's office with the production budgeting process and with artistic budget reporting and maintenance
  • Maintain schedules and calendars for all artistic processes
  • Work with the Production Manager in the creation of season calendars
  • With the Associate Producer, oversee planning, coordination, and execution of special events, including development and marketing events
  • Represent the Goodman Theatre at public relations, development, and theatre industry functions as needed
  • Participate as needed in audience education and enrichment events, including post-show discussions

Publicity Associate

Reports To: Publicity Director

Summary:
The Publicity Associate assists the Publicity Director with planning and managing all publicity efforts and public information programs for Goodman Theatre. The Publicity Associate must collaborate well with members of other departments on the creation of theater of the highest quality.

Goodman Theatre currently produces a five-play subscription season in the 856 seat Albert Ivar Goodman Theatre and a three-play season in the 350 seat Owen Bruner Goodman Theatre. In addition, the Goodman produces the annual production of A Christmas Carol in the Albert each year along with special events.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Director to develop opportunistic press plans to support eight plays-plus an annual production of A Christmas Carol—and special events, projects and education programs to print, broadcast, electronic media.
  • Research new media opportunities/contacts and maintain press lists for releases and opening night invitations.
  • Manage press database using Tessitura.
  • Write press releases and compose tailored pitches to individual members of the media; gather background materials; follow up on pitches and facilitate interviews.
  • Schedule and facilitate rehearsal and production photo/video calls; assist Director with the selection of publicity photos and video clips; distribute digital photos and b-roll to the press.
  • Supervise opening night preparations, including: mail invitations, accept reservations, make confirmation calls and prepare press kits for opening night attendees. Maintain attendance lists and seat the event.
  • Supervise publicity intern: oversee press mailings, newspaper clippings and maintenance of press files.
  • Work with WebMaster to maintain and update press pages on GoodmanTheatre.org.
  • Copy edit printed pieces.
  • Assist with the many archival duties that are fulfilled by the publicity office; supply materials for other LORT theaters, journalists and scholars.
  • Assist with departmental administrative duties as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in journalism, communications, English or related field.
  • Experience: Candidates must have at least two to three years experience working with a cultural organization, preferably a theater, in media/public relations. The ideal candidate has established relationships with working members of the Chicago and national media.
  • Required Skills: Must be a self-starter, highly organized and able to work well with staff at all levels within the theater. Must have excellent writing, editing and interpersonal skills. Must have a self-motivated work style.

Assistant Lighting Supervisor

Reports To: Lighting Supervisor

Start Date: August 2008

Duties and Responsibility:

  • Assist Lighting Supervisor with preparing light plots and associated paperwork, including Lightwright (or other paperwork software) for load-in and focus of all Goodman Theatre productions and events
  • Locate sources and supplies
  • Assist lighting supervisor to coordinate work with other production departments
  • Continually update current and upcoming show documentation
  • Track and update paperwork during load-in process
  • Help supervise electric's crew and ensure that work is accomplished in a safe and efficient manner
  • Perform as assistant to the Lighting Designer for Goodman Theatre productions; as assigned
  • Attend weekly production meetings as required
  • Periodic night and weekend work required
  • Additional Duties as assigned by the Lighting Supervisor or Production Manager

Qualifications:

  • College education or equivalent professional experience required
  • Must have working knowledge of theatrical lighting
  • Experience with ETC Obsession II, ETCNet II required
  • Knowledge of other lighting control systems; automated lighting; and rigging beneficial
  • Vectorworks and other CAD program knowledge required
