Auditions

Auditions

Goodman Theatre does not have a resident or repertory company of actors and is always looking for new talent for our stages. While auditions for specific productions throughout the season are by invitation only, the Goodman holds general auditions each year.

General Auditions

Equity Actors (members of Actors' Equity Association)

Equity Auditions are held each spring in Chicago and often in New York. Once Equity general audition dates are announced, you can either make an appointment in person at the Equity office or call the Chicago Equity audition hotline. Please take note that the Goodman does not schedule appointments; all appointments are scheduled though the Equity office.

Non-Equity Actors (non-members of Actors' Equity Association)

Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis. If we are interested in seeing your work at a general audition, we will contact you directly. Non-Equity general auditions are typically held four times a year, and we usually receive more submissions than we have slots for; if it happens that you are not among the few selected, we encourage you to submit once again in four to six months.

HOW TO SUBMIT: Please submit your hard copy headshot and résumé to the attention to Goodman Theatre Casting Department. No phone calls, please.

Submissions for a Particular Production

In Town Actors

If you are interested in a particular production please do let us know by submitting your headshot, résumé and a letter of interest. Please specify the show and role you're interested in, and post to the attention of Adam Belcuore, director of casting, or Erica Sartini, casting coordinator, and we will be happy to review and consider your request. You may send these by mail or electronically.

HOW TO SUBMIT: Electronic submissions must be formatted correctly in order to be considered. Both your résumé and picture should be either in Word or PDF format as one attachment, (we prefer headshots to be 300 dpi and attachments must be 10mb or smaller), and your name must appear on your picture. Requests should be sent to Casting@GoodmanTheatre.org, with a valid email address, for the purposes of correspondence.

Out of Town Actors

The need for actors outside the Chicago area depends specifically upon the demands of each individual production. While auditions held outside the Chicago area are also by invitation only, if you are an Actors' Equity member and are interested in a particular production please do let us know by submitting your headshot, résumé and a letter of interest specifying the show and role to the attention of Adam Belcuore, director of casting, or Erica Sartini, casting coordinator, and we will be happy to review and consider your request. Please let us know where you are based in your letter of interest.
